Civil and Political Rights | | Résumé | Although the destinies of White and Black Women were different, they had something in common: The Struggle for the Abolitionist cause which helped generate the Women's Rights Movement of the 1920's, and later on, the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's. The Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution adopted in 1920, provided women with the right to vote. From this period, White women actively participated in Politics and social reform movements. Black Women also played a critical role in the Civil Rights Momvement. They developed powerful organizational skills to carry out their struggle against discrimination.
